Cowtown Brings Calgary Flair to Comedic Opera

barberofcowtown

It’s been a few months, which means it’s time for another outing from the Cowtown Opera Company. Coming off successful showings of La Boheme and a sing-a-long version of the Sound of Music, the local group is following up with their take on the Barber of Seville (wondering why that sounds familiar, even to the non-operatically inclined? You’ve probably seen the Bugs Bunny cartoon, the Rabbit of Seville).

But what’s up with this take? Cowtown Opera has revisited the Rossini comedic opera and given it an old west spin that more befits our local roots.

The show runs May 29-June 1, and you can grab tickets online through Eventbrite.
