Raleigh’s Wordlessness Says Plenty

Above is the newly released video for Raleigh‘s Wordlessness, a track from their latest album, New Times In Black and White, released in 2011. Does that seem like a long time? Nah, this video was worth the wait.

A haunting start in the winter woods crashes beautifully loud and full of strength in both the vocals and the instruments. Arranged over scenic forest settings and rushing waters, the imagery matches the flow of the song, and brings an incredibly local feel to this release. The world-weary soul who staggers through the trees has his final heartbeats echoed in the insistent drums that back the track, and provide a poignant and thoughtful work with dark contrasts of death and loss in the visuals and lyrics against the brightness of the vocals and a heaping helping of awesome local talent.

If you like what you see, get out the door right now and see them at the Palomino with The Beauties tonight. Doors open at 9pm, and it’s $10 to get in. After that, you’ll have to chase them to the coast at the end of March, or wait for them to return to Calgary.
