The Calgary Folk Music Festival is almost 40, but you wouldn’t know it by the energetic lineup announced today.
They have announced 69 artists from around the world, including local talents like The Dudes, Northern Beauties, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Amelie Patterson, Nancy Laberge, Carter Felker, Kris Demeanor, and Evan Freeman. From outside the city limits, big names like The New Pornographers, Whitehorse, Kathleen Edwards, Corb Lund, and cats done two very different ways (Cat Power and Cat Empire) will be there.
There will be workshops, mashing together unique gatherings of talent into one-time-only supergroups, which will be announced closer to the date.
The Festival is where it always is – Prince’s Island Park – towards the end of July. It’s four days of musical adventure, the occasional rain shower, friends, food trucks, beer gardens and pure joy.
