Tonight marks the first night of the raucous Sled Island 2013 festival, and if Punk Rock Bingo at the Ship or Broken City isn’t your cup of tea, the local talent on display at Commonwealth is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Upstairs, the night kicks off with the local punk/synth power chords of Teledrome; downstairs, it’s renowned Calgary supergroup Gold heating up the night. The rest of the evening follows on the local scene, with indie darling Samantha Savage Smith, the rocking HighKicks, garage rockers The Gooeys, and psych-rockers (and exclamation mark enthusiasts) Extra Happy Ghost!!! Joining them will be the highly appreciated out-of-towner stylings of Chains Of Love and Victories. Closing out the night will be the Wild Rose Soul Club DJ’s.
