Wu-Block Wooing Calgary This Tuesday

Calgary hip hop fans are in for a real treat, as legendary rapper GhostFace Killah hits the Commonwealth Bar and Stage, along with Sheek Louch, this Tuesday. Be ready for a good time as both of these gents have had successful careers since the 1990’s (probably before some of their concert goers were even born!) GhostFace, a formative member of Wu Tang, has been on the hip hop scene since 1992. He has had a successful solo career, dropping his first album Ironman in 1996. Known for his loud, fast paced flow he has had critical acclaim over his long career, including being on MTV’s Honorable Mention list as being one of the best MC’s of all time.

Sheek Louch, also an east coast rapper, was signed as part of  The Lox after being discovered by Mary J Blige in the late 1990’s.  He has had a successful solo career and has worked with many of the industry’s big wigs over the years.

GhostFace and Sheek Louch have formed a collaborative effort called Wu Block (a combination of the names of their respective groups, Wu Tang and D-Block). Together, they released an album in November of 2012, and are hitting Calgary as part of their Canadian tour.

The Commonwealth Bar and Stage, opened in the fall of 2011 (formerly the Warehouse) is an amazing venue to check out shows.  A popular spot from the get go, this venue offers great views, amazing sound, and an intimate setting. This is a show not to be missed, and if you’re smart you will head down a bit early for some drinks and a bite from the cafeteria. Doors open at nine; expect a late night (but it will be totally worth it!)
